The Agnese Nelms Haury Program in Environment and Social Justice partially funded Red Star International, Inc. (Red Star) to facilitate Indigenous knowledge exchange between the Inter-Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc., and the tribally designated face and voice of the Whanganui River in New Zealand, Turama Hawira.
Inspired by the Whanganui River's recognition as an indivisible, living entity, Red Star partnered with the Turama Hawira people to engage a national audience to explore the health and healing of our rivers through an Indigenous lens.
