University-Community Partnerships awards encourage innovation in research, education, and solution implementations that address and give voice to populations most vulnerable to environmental and social justice challenges. These awards aim to forge stronger relationships between expertise and resources within Southwestern communities and those at the University of Arizona.
Mrs. Haury believed strongly in partnerships by which universities work with community programs and resources to achieve shared goals. True to that vision, the Agnese Nelms Haury Program in Environment and Social Justice implemented between 2014 and 2019 two types of awards yearly for initiatives that best leveraged UArizona and community resources:
- Seed Grants to fund new or existing UArizona-community partnerships that start new initiatives (up to $100,000 for a period of up to two years each); and
- Challenge Grants to fund new or existing UA-community partnerships working on new initiatives to address complex challenges (up to $200,000 per year for period of up to three years).
