The Haury Program supports the UArizona's Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy Program (IPLP) to host the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Francisco (Pancho) Calí Tzay.
Haury Program also supported the Native American Advancement, Initiatives and Research (NAAIR) and the United Nations Special Rapporteur (UNSR) offices, including developing the two websites, which focus on the innumerable environmental challenges confronting indigenous peoples' cultural survival in the 21st century.
The human rights mandate held by the Special Rapporteur is part of the system of special procedures responsible for promoting human rights across the globe.
The Special Rapporteur's specific mandate calls for promoting good practices and facilitating constructive engagement between indigenous peoples and nation-states.
In their capacity, the Special Rapporteur mandate holder is charged with making recommendations to prevent and remedy violations of the indigenous peoples' rights.
